Having arrived here (reading this article on our website) some of the following tips may be academic, but for the sake of completeness I have included them anyway. Here are a few basic tips to consider when you look for a family law solicitor:
- Find a specialist - you may feel comforted by the fact that your Solicitor only deals with Family Law, allowing them to concentrate only on your kind of problems.
- Employ a Solicitor who is a member of Resolution- they will have a non-confrontational approach which will save money, stress and bad feeling!
- Look on the Internet - most Solicitors can be found by searching on Google. Choose the key words specific to your particular problem.
- Decide where your Solicitor should be located - will you want to see them often and if so is it better if they are near to work or home?
- Look in Local Directories - if you want a local Solicitor then this is one place they are likely to advertise.
- Ask other people - if someone else has had a good experience with a particular Solicitor then you probably will too.
- Look at their website - and see if you like what they have to say.
- Speak to them on the telephone - this may reassure you that they are friendly and you can trust them.
- Arrange an initial appointment - some Solicitors offer a low fixed fee and you can decide whether to go ahead.
- Enquire about the technology they use - if you like to communicate by email, make sure your Solicitor will too!
